Many
people like to stick with a particular grape
varietal or region. If this satisfies your
palate, then you need look no further; but
you shouldn't feel trapped in a single style.
If you are interested in expanding your horizons,
but nervous about the vast array of wines
on the shelf, why not try a different style
from a winery that you already know and enjoy?
Often the sensibility and balance that you
enjoyed in your Merlot will also be represented
in the very different flavors of a Zinfandel
from the same producer. There is such a thing
as a bad wine, but we live in an age and a
culture where literally thousands of high-quality
wines are available to us, so it is largely
a matter of finding a producer whose tastes
match yours.
