Weingut Moritz Gogrewe Alte Reben Riesling 2005 - $31.99 on sale $14.96 An amazing close out deal on this Riesling from a small, artisanal producer. Here is what David Schildknecht had to say in the Wine Advocate (he gave it 90 pts): “Gogrewe’s 2005 Riesling Alte Reben originates in 48- and 35-year-old parcels in the Oberemmeler Altenberg and Wiltinger Kelterberg (within Klosterberg) respectively. Scents of apricot and quinine lead to a creamy palate, satisfyingly pitting high acidity against high residual sugar. This is another of those strikingly dense, yet elegant 2005s. Almond, apricot, mirabelle, and nut oils inform a clear, juicy, imposing finish. I’m relatively confident that this lovely Riesling will evolve interestingly for at least 4-5 years.”
Plantagenet Wines, Chenin Blanc "Off the Rack" Western Australia, 2006 (500 ml) - $21.99 on sale for $11.96 “Honeyed peach, apricot and orange aromas offer impressive clarity. Crisp and refreshing for a late-harvest wine, with bright acidity and vivid cut to the ripe pit fruit flavors. A tangy white pepper note builds on the expansive finish. This would work well during rather than following a meal and should do wonders with a young, sweet blue cheese. 91 points.” –Stephen Tanzer, International Wine Cellar
