German Wine Glossary
Trocken--dry
Halbtrocken--half dry
Feinherb--off-dry
Sekt--sparkling
Kabinett--driest of the German quality levels
Spatlese--Literally "late-harvest." Grapes are left on the vine to ripen beyond normal harvest date, and thus have more sugar. This means more potential sweetness and alcohol in the wine.
