South Africa’s Fairview Winery labels this in “cheeky riposte to the much-hyped Cotes-du-Rhone styles.” The punning name refers to the goats who provide milk for their famed cheese. Blending Viognier, Grenache and Roussane, gives peach & lime aromas, rosemary notes and a round palate. Try with Goats do Roam Red to celebrate the Rainbow Nation during this year’s World Cup!

Charles Back, owner
Charles was born in Paarl, on the Fairview estate which his family has owned since 1937. He was raised on the farm and attended school at Paarl Gymnasium, where he was one of the few English speaking boys at an Afrikaans school! While working on the farm in the early 1980’s, Charles came up with the idea of a landmark, to be a symbol of the estate. In 1981 he built the now famous Fairview Goat Tower. The tower has become a Paarl winelands landmark, and visitors to the farm rarely leave without a snapshot of the tower and its resident goats.
